Ulasan 2 : Perbedaan Semaphore and Mutex
Dalam ulasan ini, saya membahas sebuah video berjudul “What
is difference between Semaphore and Mutex” oleh HowTo dengan url https://youtu.be/DvF3AsTglUU.
Video ini diupload pada 5 Maret 2016 dan berdurasi 6 menit dan 59 detik.
Video ini menjelaskan perbedaan antara mutex dan semaphore dengan
representasi gambar dibuat dengan powerpoint. Mutex adalah objek yang hanya
memperbolehkan satu thread untuk melalui bagian yang diberikan mutex dalam satu
waktu. Semaphore dijelaskan sebagai mekanisme untuk restriksi jumlah pengguna
suatu shared resource pada satu waktu hingga suatu angka maksimal. Thread bisa
request akses (wait, mengurangi counter) atau memberi akses saat selesai (post,
menambah counter). Perbedaan inti adalah mutex merupakan objek, sedangkan
semaphore adalah sebuah signaling mechanism.
Menurut saya video ini menarik, dan cukup menjelaskan
perbedaan antara objek mutex dan semaphore. Penjelasan cukup rinci, walaupun
desain yang digunakan sangat simple. Jika anda masih belum terlalu paham dengan
konsep mutex dan semaphore, serta perbedaannya, anda dapat menonton video ini.
